Spot

Learn how spot trading works on Yellow, how balances update after a trade, and when assets move onchain.

Spot trading is the direct exchange of one asset for another, for example buying BTC with USDT.

When a spot order is filled:

  • your balances update on the platform after execution

  • the trade is completed within Yellow’s trading environment, so you can continue trading using your updated balance

Onchain asset movement happens when you deposit or withdraw:

  • when you deposit, assets become available for trading on Yellow

  • when you withdraw, assets are sent back to your wallet

  • assets are not moved onchain for each individual trade

What This Means in Practice

  • when a spot order is filled, your available balances update for further trading

  • onchain transactions are tied to deposits and withdrawals, not every trade

One small optional improvement: change “buying BTC with USDT” to “trading BTC against USDT” if you want the wording to feel a bit more neutral and market-focused.
